Zinc Treatment For Herpes
There is no cure for herpes, and once you have it, it is likely to come back. In one small study, people who applied zinc oxide cream to cold sores saw them heal faster than those who applied a placebo cream. Topical ZnSO4 has been found to be an effective therapeutic modality not only for treatment but also for prolonging remissions in herpes genitalis. Topical 4 ZnSO4 has been found to be most efficacious out of the three concentrations, without any side effects. Using a standard plaque assay and clinical isolates of herpes simplex virus (HSV) , we have tested the ability of zinc salts to inactivate HSV. Virus was treated by incubation at 37C with zinc salts in morpholinepropanesulfonic acid-buffered culture medium and was then diluted and plated onto CV-1 cells for detection and quantitation of remaining infectious virus.There is no cure for herpes, so the goals of treatment are to reduce the number of outbreaks and to lessen symptoms when you do have an outbreak. In test tubes, zinc is effective against HSV-1 and HSV-2. While there is no cure for herpes, and the virus stays in the body forever, zinc is one trace mineral that has been clinically proven to kill the herpes virus and reduce healing time during outbreaks.

Its a form of herpes, So dont go around kissing people with a big spot on their lip. Zinc sulphate can alleviate the symptoms, but does not affect a cure. There are also other treatments for the symptoms, but none of them will kill the underlying virus.

However, most results suggest that zinc may be a safe and effective alternative treatment for herpes types 1 and 2. Zinc Lozenges: Start sucking on two zinc lozenges (13-24 mg of zinc in each lozenge) immediately and again every 2 to 3 hours for first day or two. Treatment must be initiated as soon as symptoms manifest! Genital herpes simplex virus infection is a recurrent, lifelong disease with no cure. L-lysine, zinc, and some herbal preparations may offer some benefit. Acyclovir (Zovirax) , valacyclovir (Valtrex) , or famciclovir (Famvir) should be offered to patients with genital herpes to reduce symptoms, but these agents are not a cure for HSV infection.
